OUR MISSION & VISION

Mitla Dedication.JPG

"...how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

Anchor 1

To partner, prepare, send and serve mestizo (persons of mixed race) and indigenous (native or original inhabitants) servant-leaders with vision and passion to reach Mexico and the world for Christ. NLM also facilitates short-term mission teams from the US who participate through labor and providing the financing for their team projects: i.e., house-churches, homes for staff, septic systems, roofing, painting, landscaping, etc.

Our partnership mission is located in the large agricultural growing valley of San Quintin in Baja California and the state of Oaxaca.  The valley has 70,000 migrant agricultural workers who come to work annually from southern states in Mexico that have fewer work opportunities.   Some stay and buy property and build homes.  Among these workers are many indigenous people.  There are 100 indigenous languages spoken among these workers.  Most speak some Spanish as well.

God is bringing indigenous people to the valley where they hear the Word and the gospel with eagerness.  From there springs a desire to evangelize and plant churches in the local area or to return to their villages in the southern states and bring the LIGHT to a dark world, a world that has often not heard of the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

send

Ministers and missionaries accepting the challenge of living by faith, after proving themselves faithful, are sent by the local church, SBB, and NLM into the “fields that are ripe for harvest”.  NLM serves as Aaron and Hur holding up the arms of Moses in the battle led by Joshua against the Amalekites.

partner

Northern Light Ministries is a partnership mission...partnering with American evangelical churches and individual brothers and sisters in Christ. Together we share the vision and mission of NLM with born-again dedicated faith-walking Mexican believers, who are devoted to God.

prepare

Our partnership developed Baja Bible Seminary (SBB in Spanish), a faith-driven 3 year Bible seminary, to prepare men and women to actively participate as lay leaders in their local churches and become full-time ministers, evangelists and missionaries to their people, proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, baptizing, making disciplines and teaching others to do the same.

serve

As a key part of our vision, we (all partners) are serving our sent ones in prayer, communication, visits, spiritual support, and resources for ministry as God provides.  We also are making available means for our active ministering graduates to continue their Biblical educations…preparing as a force in reaching Latin America for Christ.

Statement of Faith

Guiding Scriptures

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly and holy life.

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those that are saved will have eternal life and the unbelieving shall be eternally separated from the presence of God.

  • We believe it is the responsibility of Christ's followers to share the gospel to all nations (Rom. 1:5, Rev. 5:9).

  • Matthew 28:19-20  NLT -- "...therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commandments I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

  • Galatians 6:10 NASB -- "Therefore whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to those of the household of faith."

  • Romans 10:13-15 NIV -- "...for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
